Luna Garcia is a Maya Lin alum and professional Folklórico dancer. She is also the daughter of our beloved Rosie Garcia who works in the front office of Maya Lin!
redella is an Oakland-based musician with roots in the UK.'s music spans genres, from acoustic soul to electronic blues, and spins stories of life and love. Originally from the UK, redella honed her craft in London’s warehouse music scene and festivals, and is now based in Oakland, California. She has collaborated with musicians from all over the world and toured in ten countries. She brings these global influences into her work with a captivating stage presence and a soulful voice. She’s currently working on her debut album.

Naby Bangoura learned traditional West African dance during village ceremonies and celebrations in Guinée, West Africa, in his village of Kindia. At the young age of fifteen, Naby started dancing professionally with the national dance company Les Merveilles de Guinée. This was founded by the late world-renowned dance choreographer and artistic director Kemoko Sano, with additional leadership by the Yamoussa Soumah and the late Moussa Camara.
In 1998, Les Merveilles brought him to perform in major venues throughout the United States. Known for his energetic and fluid dance style and soaring spirit, master dance teacher Naby Bangoura has been performing and teaching high energy West African dance, Guinée style, in dance studios and dance workshops and conferences all over the United States, as well as Japan, Australia, and Guinée.
He is currently living in Berkeley and teaching West African dance all over the San Francisco Bay Area. He can be found weekly at Brasarte World Dance Center in Berkeley, the ODC Dance Commons in San Francisco, and Stapleton Dance Center in San Anselmo. He also teaches at local high schools and elementary schools, and regularly travels to Nevada City, Santa Cruz and other locations.
Naby performs regularly at different celebrations and events, such as weddings, anniversaries, and corporate events. He can be contacted at (510) 290-4787 to perform or teach classes.
Ang Pamilya San Jose is an Oakland-based trio that loves to promote Philippine and Pilipinx-American culture and history! Its members are comprised of Aurelia (daughter-extraordinaire and pupil at Agos, a project of Kularts), Jelly (longtime Philippine cultural dancer), and Lenny (ukulele artist and educator).
Lenny San Jose, aka Ukulenny, is an ukulele performer, musician, and educator residing in Oakland. He began playing the Ukulele after getting one for Christmas, and got a lot of practice playing uke on his BART commute. Catch him leading ukulele jams at Fireside Alameda every first Thursday, and playing ukulele at various festivals and restaurants across the Bay Area and beyond.

Hālau Makana, the only professional Polynesian dance company based in Alameda, is a community-centered organization led by Kumu Lani Cid-Iulio dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Polynesian culture. Our mission is to preserve and share the rich traditions of Hawaiian, Tahitian, and Maori cultures through the arts. specifically through dance and music. We offer beginner through advanced hula and Tahitian classes (with students spanning from age 5 through 75+), and perform in various venues throughout the Bay Area.
Our members dancing in today's program include Alameda's own Rose, Maeris, Adrienne, and Angel, as well as Pamilya San Jose. Be sure to watch us perform at Children's Fairyland on May 24, and come check out our classes this summer at our studio on Lincoln and Bay!

Sweet Thing plays female fronted hits of the 80’s. They are an exciting trip down memory lane, playing “every thing that's missing from today's cover bands”. Covering artist like The Pointer Sisters, Chaka Khan, Teena Marie, SOS band and much more.
Prospect is a genre-bending band of young musicians from Oakland School for the Arts, blending Hip Hop, jazz fusion, soul, R&B, and rap into a sound that’s both timeless and boldly new.
The band features a powerhouse lineup of student artists, including Grammy winners Tommy Shepherd and Kali deJesus (vocals/sax), MJ Santos (piano), Dame Taylor (drums), Kingston Melancon (violin), Sebastian Emley (bass), and vocalists Aiko Hayes and Amber Carroll.
With roots in Oakland’s vibrant cultural scene, Prospect has brought their performances to stages across the Bay Area, including the Malcolm X Jazz Festival, La Peña Cultural Center, Laurel StreetFair, Oaktoberfest, Local Progress National Convening, and HiiiWAV Fest. Their music is as soulful as it is fearless—honoring the legacy of Black music while pushing the boundaries of contemporary sound. Prospect isn’t just a school band—they’re a movement of young artists using music to express truth and joy.
